ENGARDE was ranked among the top 50 leading law firms of Ukraine 2009 in the annual independent survey held by the Yuridicheskaya Praktika Ukrainian weekly. The high appraisal has marked the unprecedented success and dynamics of development of the firm, which was founded in May 2009 and included into the survey after six months of its performance. Besides, ENGARDE was named “one of the year’s most promising legal market start-ups” in the editorial following the ranking table.

ENGARDE was included into the ranking list, to a great extent, due to the high level of the projects led and disputes settled by the firm in 2009. In particular, the following ENGARDE’s projects were referred to among the 25 Largest Public Antitrust Transactions in Ukraine: obtainment of merger clearance from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMC) for Energies Investment LTD’s USD 20 billion acquisition of the controlling stake of Metinvest Holding B.V. and establishment of Smart Maritime B.V. holding company valued at USD 268 million. Furthermore, ENGARDE’s client representing in the USD 210 million debt recovery dispute with Unex Bank and Ingulets Ore Dressing Works related to the dividend payout was included into the 50 Largest Public Litigation and Arbitration Cases in Ukraine list.

According to the ranking methodology, the best law firms are determined based on such criteria as reputation, income, financial efficiency, number of lawyers, and quality and volume of transactional and litigation work handled by a firm.
